After the success of the previous 3 editions (held in Kerkrade), in collaboration with governmental & Education partners, The Smart Urban Redesign Research Centre (SURD) in Zuyd University lead by Prof. Dr. Nurhan Abujidi is organising the 4th edition of the design workshop on revitalization of public space in the city of Maatricht.

Building upon experiences and insights from the previous workshops, we will be developing new concepts and designs for the 2 locations through participatory approach.
We will be investigating together the role and meaning of the so called “public” spaces, how they can be a catalyst for future cycles that promote social cohesion, healthy lifestyle and well-being.

ELIGIBILITY& REQUIREMENTS
B.A. and M.A.Students from national and international universities from the following disciplines: Built Environment , Architecture, Urban Studies, Urban Design/Planning, Facility Management, Social work, Health/care, Arts.

Good spoken English is required.

APPLICATIONS
Applicants are required to submit a presentation letter (500words maximum) and a portfolio of selected works in urban design and planning.

AIM
The workshop aims to develop a spatial vision and strategic interventions, projects and insights for Beddawi as an attempt to address the various social, political and spatial ruptures that fragment this territory. The workshop will build on two years of community participation and research conducted in the Palestinian refugee camp of Beddawi and its adjacent areas.

OUTPUT
The workshop will produce a variety of visual materials and guidelines that will be eventually presented to the various communities in the Beddawi Area in the form of exhibitions and publications.

ELIGIBILITY& REQUIREMENTS
M.A. students from national & International universities from Built Environment disciplines: Architecture, Urban Design & Landscape Architecture.
Good spoken English is required.
